Surrounded by beautiful heather-clad mountains, it is recommended to stay in the area for the weekend to truly soak up the traditional Scottish atmosphere, pageantry and spectacle of Highland Games.
The Royal History Of The Braemar Gathering
The Braemar Gathering has a rich history that dates back over 900 years, as there have been gatherings of one form or another in the Braemar area since the days of King Malcolm Canmore. The present form of the Braemar Gathering has been running annually since 1832, and during these years, large crowds have headed to the event every year to acclaim their Monarch as Chieftain of the Braemar Gathering.
The Gathering is attended regularly by the reigning monarch and their Royal Family, and last year The Queen attended with her children Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
