Blairgowrie Golf Club

Blairgowrie Golf Club is one of the most highly regarded golf clubs in the UK, and it is the rich history and Championship golf courses that have made it such a famous golfing location. Located in the heart of the beautiful Perthshire countryside, it was founded as a private members club back in 1889 and sees many keen golfers from across the globe visit to take on the renowned courses.

All of the courses at Blairgowrie Golf Club are consistently featured in Scotland’s Top 100 Golf Courses, and the Rosemount and Lansdowne are famed for being majestic Championship courses.

The Rosemount Course
The Rosemount Course is well known for being a classy and beautiful inland course, with crisp turf and a moorland feel with the fairways rolling and pitching through grand avenues of trees. Back in 1914, Dr Alistair MacKenzie was commissioned to create the course but was delayed by the Great War and eventually opened in 1927.

In the 1930s James Braid was asked to create a further nine holes to result in a new 18 hole layout. The Rosemount today is a charming James Braid designed course with a touch of Alistair MacKenzie’s flair. The holes in the course are varied, but the very best holes are left until the end, with the 17th being especially noteworthy. It is a par three known as the Plateau, with a challenging two-tiered green.

The Lansdowne Course
Similarly to The Rosemount, The Lansdowne is routed through beautiful pine and silver birch trees. For golfers that are more accustomed to open, windswept courses, the Blairgowrie courses will be a new experience as almost every hole is played in isolation. The Lansdowne is certainly not a short course, at 6,913 yards from the back tees. However, seven out of the twelve par four holes are less than 400 yards, and three par threes are less than 150 yards.

The Wee Course
The Wee Course is formed partly of the original course that was designed when the club first opened, with some of the original layout designed by Dr Alistair Mackenzie. It is a challenging 32 par course set in stunning heathland and makes for a charming contrast to The Rosemount and The Lansdowne. It makes for the ideal warm-up round before tackling the more challenging courses, or the perfect starting point for golfers that are just starting out in the course.
