Dundee Flower and Food Festival

The Dundee flower and food festival has been running for over 30 years. In the first week of September, the Camperdown Wildlife Centre plays host to the best in horticulture, live entertainment and, of course, food.

Competition
The festival began as a fruit and vegetable show. The competition is still a big part of the show. In fact, the show is Scotland’s largest competitive show. There are over 700 different competition classes. You can view the entries in the exhibition tent.

Celebrity Guests
Each year the festival plays host to some big names in both gardening and cooking. In previous years guest have included Master Chef winners, Mary Berry, Joe Swift and Andy Day just to name a few. Check the festival website to see who is lined up this year.

Child-Friendly
There are activities specifically aimed at young children. Making it a great day out for the whole family. There is a special children’s marquee filled with activities and interactive sessions. There are also entertainment stages and an exhibition marquee which have lots to see.

Tickets
You can buy a ticket for a single day, or you can buy a three-day ticket. Single-day tickets cost around £12, or £20 for the whole event. If you buy your tickets earlier, you can get it cheaper. Concession tickets are available and under 16s go free.

Planning a Visit
The show is open from 10 am to around 5 pm.

During the festival, there will be a range of outdoor eating options. There are toilets on-site as well as extra portable toilets during the visit.

There are no ATMs on the site. So, you will need to plan in advance if you need cash.

There are wheelchairs available on site to hire for free. Service dogs are also welcome.

Getting There
The Camperdown Wildlife Centre is a 30-minute drive from Glenshieling House. It is a pretty straight forward drive down, and it is well signposted from the A90. There is free parking just next to the showground. You can take the number 53 bus from Dundee City if you want to take public transport.
