Glenshee Skiing

With more lifts and terrains than any other ski centre in the UK, Glenshee is a popular resort for those looking to take to the slopes a little closer to home. Located near Braemar on the road from Blairgowrie, Glenshee sees many ski enthusiasts visit every year. The ski centre has 3,504 feet of mountain to be adventured on either skis or a snowboard and also features Tiger, one of the most difficult and challenging black runs around.

A mixture of terrain, both human-made and natural, is available at Glenshee Skiing, as well as plenty of bowls, jumps, hits and gullies for all abilities. On a nice, clear day, skiers at Glenshee can take in the fabulous views across the Cairngorms National Park.

Glenshee Skiing For All Abilities
No matter what level of skier you or your family are, Glenshee Skiing can accommodate. Novices and beginners can begin by gently getting to grips with skiing or snowboarding on the expansive nursery slopes by the main car park.

For intermediate skiers and snowboarders, there are 26 blue and red runs available to try. These vary from long runs to exhilarating steep and short runs. More experienced skiers and snowboarders can test their skills on Glenshee’s two black runs. The infamous Tiger has been a renowned part of Scottish skiing for many years and is not for the faint-hearted.

The Glenshee Skiing Slopes
With Britain’s largest lift system and runs that extend over four mountains and three valleys, it is no surprise that Glenshee Skiing has plenty of options for everyone. The slopes are served predominantly by drag lifts because of the persistently high winds. Glas Moal to the east of the area offers some remote skiing slopes, and the west wall is probably the steepest slope in the centre.

The Tiger black run is often the most memorable with plenty of bumps and a 250-metre vertical descent on the way down. On the best days, Glenshee Skiing can offer powder that is knee deep, but it is fairly often icy, hard and with a chilling wind.
